Not rooted. The V8 Pro was purchased unlocked and the BladeZ is an unlocked Metro PCS phone. Hotspot on the Cricket 40 has always worked fine on them. The reason I even keep these two phones in the stable is because they tether on Cricket right out of the box.

Try PDAnet and see if that works.

Tried that. I'm almost wondering if it could be my current location cuz my Cricket line has been really bad the last few days. I'm on a little vacation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (Iron Mountain Area). Calls are taking forever to connect up here!!!

Natively hot spotting just fine with Cricket on my unlocked Metro Samsung J7 Prime. YouTube videos looking great.

Will maybe switch SIM later into my unlocked Blade Zmax to check.
pss: Blade Zmax also working fine as Cricket hotspot in a quick test.

Ps: Have had my account suspended by Cricket before for hotspotting. Do so now very sparingly. Mainly for updating my several phones.

Thanks Gwite! At least I know it's not Cricket doing something. I don't tether very often but it does come in handy sometimes.

All you clowns with these low end devices crack me up having to keep multiple because 1 won't do it all.

This “clown” is on a 5/100 plan and am using a current model iPhone which will never tether without jailbreaking. I am not willing to terminate our grandfathered plan for the few times I need tethering every summer. Also the Metro J7 does double duty as a great Sonos controller.

This is making me crazy!! Just got back from a vacation and I still can't get my V8 to tether properly. Did a factory reset and still no luck. I can connect to the hotspot just fine but I can't open any websites. My other V8 I sold worked perfect.

Can you get online with the phones browser?? And have you tried USB tether
    Or Bluetooth tethering.

Have you tried to connect other devices than the laptop?

Will the BladeZ connect(and get internet) to the v8 hotspot? Vice versa?

The browser on both phones works fine and I've tried to hotspot to my Chromebook and Windows laptops. Again, I can connect to the hotspot but can't get online. I was just able to grab one of those ridiculously cheap unlocked LG G6's at Wally this morning and will check to see if the hotspot works out of the box this evening.

Hard to fathom having identical failures in totally different phones at the exact same time.

Big mystery. Let us know how it works out.

What's the price of the LG g6 at wally?

    Thx.

Yes, what is the G6 price? I checked Walmart.com but didn't see anything less than 270

If it's a clearance price, it often cannot be checked online for price. There is a way, if you have the Wal-Mart SKU(I think that's what you need). If you know the SKU, you can often check the actual price and inventory by store at brickseek.com.
