This will be the last thing I write about these two phones for a while; any additional news over the next few days will be posted in the afternoon news round-ups. It just so happened that their launch in India this morning coincided with my morning coffee.

The only real surprise here is that both the G4 and G4 Plus are actually the same size, each with a 5.5 inch full HD screen. The G4 Plus adds the physical home button/fingerprint sensor and an option with more storage and RAM.

    Both Phones:
    5.5 inch 1080p display @401ppi
    1.5GHz, octa-core Snapdragon 617
    Adreno 405 GPU
    3,000mAh battery
    micro SD slot
    5 megapixel front-facing camera
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with "Moto Pure"
    Available in black or white

    G4:
    13 megapixel rear camera
    2GB RAM / 16GB Storage

    G4 Plus:
    fingerprint scanner
    16 megapixel rear camera
3GB RAM / 32GB Storage as an available option

I should add that these India-specific models also take two SIM cards, a feature that's almost certainly not coming to North America.

If I'm reading the specs correctly, these do not support Band 66, correct? Our provider (Wind in Canada) will be using those frequencies for LTE sometime in the next year or so.

I guess my opinion is probably in the minority of smart phone users but I hate how the phone's keep getting larger. My 3rd Gen Moto G with the 5" screen is really as large as I want to go but the options for a decent spec 5" or below phone are almost non existent.

You may be in the minority, but I'll join you there. I'm a woman with average-sized hands, and I really dislike having to ALWAYS use a phone with two hands. I have an iPhone 5c and a GS6 Edge. IMO, the GS6 Edge is a great size: big enough to see, but nowhere near huge.

Can anyone who has one confirm that the G4 does not use Gorilla Glass?

Its a clear omission in the G4 spec sheet while the G4 Plus does specify that it uses Corning Gorilla Glass.
Even the G3 model made sure to denote that it had it so it would be a step backward if they used something cheaper with the new G4

    Two questions good people.

    Is the battery removable?

    And

    Is the bootloader unlocked?

Is that device can use any GSM globally?
