Rooting won't help with unlocking. Unfortunately, its 2 different things.
I used exclusiveunlocks.com in the past and was happy enough with them.

So the situation is, I purchased my phone 2nd hand from a guy who got his phone free on a contract with Fido. I tried to see if the seller could unlock it for me direct from Fido but Fido said he has to wait a full 90 days b4 they would give the unlock code. Now I'm going on vacation at the end of the month and need this phone unlocked! Does anyone know if there is anyway to buy the unlock code and forego the 90 wait period? I tried the unlock code websites online only to get a response afterwards saying the imei is not clean cuz it's under contract and that they would send me a refund (which i havent received yet but thats a whole nother story)
I'll even resort to rooting my phone if need be but ive been trying to google the information and have been flustered with the amount of information sifting to find the answers im looking for.. Thanks for your help!

NOT POSTING AS AN EMPLOYEE OR REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY COMPANY
What's the exact name & country of the original network provider/carrier of your s7?
When you tried to insert a non-compatible sim card does your phone asking for a "Sim Network Unlock Pin"?
If the device isn't paid off they might of black listed the IMEI which means unlocking won't do anything your better off trying to get your money back as your going to be out more money then you already are
Why it is that way doesn't matter. The facts were pointed out above.Rooting won't help with unlocking. Unfortunately, its 2 different things.
Just another day in paradise.....
My point was that an explanation has been given and whether or not you feel it is sufficient doesn't matter.
