That's no good. I've always heard from people att is better in md than Verizon as a whole.

Went down to McHenry, MD (deep creek) this weekend. Surprised to see that I'm stuck on Extended 1X. I believe this is US cellular. I am appalled by the fact that Verizon doesn't have a 3G or LTE roaming agreement in 2016. AT&T has a full native network with decently fast LTE. It's really fun when it takes 5-10 seconds for a call to connect. At least the place I'm staying at has wifi...

I got my Nexus 6 to register on US Cellular 3G. Not too bad, at least data is usable

Keep in mind that coverage (voice/data) is never guaranteed anywhere, anytime by anybody.
Just another day in paradise.....
Never guaranteed but they'll use their coverage maps to convince you that their coverage is everywhere. On the one hand they plead this no guarantee game while on the other hand telling you not to worry, trust the coverage map. Which is why it's fair to never believe a word that's passing their lips until you've verified the coverage is indeed acceptable for your needs.
But, Deep Creek is a fairly popular vacation area. For the carrier that claims it has the best and largest network, it's kind of disappointing. I would understand if it was a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere.
