Nice new site! Must suck to build for that tower crew...that jig lift looks shaky and small lol

To give more perspective, it’s a 90’ monopole right in the flight path of the RNO airport.

How are speeds doing in Nevada? Latest RootMetrics report shows quite a large decrease.

    Yeah, I see that: http://www.rootmetrics.com/en-US/roo...eno-nv/2017/2H

The highest download speed I've seen here is in the 90's on Band 66 when it was active here for about 2 weeks in December. The best upload I've seen was around 30. In congested areas/times data has been unusable, but that's pretty rare.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon in November 2016 because Verizon is the only carrier actively adding sites in the Reno area in the past 5 years or so, while AT&T and the others have just been doing antenna changeouts. Verizon is now far ahead of the others, and currently has 2 sites under construction with 3 more in the planning/permitting process. You can see the current number of sites for each carrier on the following webpage: http://renowirelessinfo.com/mapsinfo/

The only way to tell in this one is noticing the 5 CIDs in Field Test as you circle the tower.

I can think of 3 other sites in Reno atop buildings that are 4-sector sites.
They removed the radomes for some antenna work on this 5-sector site. Notice the new antenna in the middle of the tower.

That site is a beast. 5 sectors! They're getting pretty serious about fixing your market.

Found another new macro today! Right in between Crown Point and Winfield. I said last year they need a site in between the towns and sure enough they read my mind again. The site is so new I can't find it on satellite so I'm gonna have to physically pinpoint it but it's somewhere in the vicinity of the pin.

Antennas are being added to the new tower for Verizon.

    New Verizon Site Going Up

This is that new rural macro tower that just went up. It's not on satellite yet so I had to go and physically track it down. Only see what looks like 1 RRU per sector, not sure if they're using a dual band RRU or if they GMO'd B13.

Antenna work on “the beast” seems to be completed. They went from 3-sectors/7 antennas with 5 PCIDs, to 4-sectors/8 antennas with 4 PCIDs. It’s interesting that the 2 antennas pointing north and south are thinner than the 2 antennas pointing east and west.

View of SW side of tower..

View of NE side of tower...

Will post unimpressive speed test results in the speed test thread.

    New Verizon Site Going Up

I noticed myself pulling 65 Mbps off this site from 1.6 miles away where it used to only do about 15-20 tops, so I suspected they gave it an overhaul and they did. But no B2&5! All these old sites they're doing rip and replaces on to give them 4x4 MIMO has drastically improved edge of cell performance and signal for my 2x2 device.

I've noticed a lot of replacements as well here in Las Vegas with 4x4 MIMO sites, and the performance increase is noticeable, not just in speed tests, but in day to day usage as well when loading YouTube vidoes, social media, sending pictures through iMessage, Facebook Messenger, Signal, etc... I'm thinking this year might be time for me to upgrade to a 4x4 MIMO 256 QAM enabled device, the network seems to actually be in place now, so I might as well take advantage of it.
