That's in my neck of the woods, I'm about 70 miles north of Santa Rosa. We take the Press Democrat (they serve Mendocino and Lake Counties as well), and I saw that, I wonder if they'll deploy them north of there, into smaller towns and cities like Healdsburg, Cloverdale, Ukiah, Willits, Fort Bragg, etc, or if they'll stay in large cities, it'll be interesting to watch.

Thst brings up another issue, they are going to be depending on these tiny cells using very high frequencies to push 5G, how do they expect to do that in rural areas? I hope we don't end up with yet another rural/urban technology divide, especially here on the North Coast.

The one pictured in the Santa Rosa article are completely different from those pictured above. The Santa Rosa one starts at eye level and seems to have more equipment than the other pictures and articles I’ve seen detailing these devices. I’m assuming that monstrosity on the lady’s lawn is also part of the setup.
Transformers and other things slapped on utility poles are usually much higher on the pole and have less hardware than pictured here.
I’ve been hollering a lot about weak Verizon service in my Home area but i would not vote to allow a device like the one pictured in Santa Rosa. If they stuck one of those things in my front yard I’d be complaining, too. And it has nothing to do with cancer mindset. They are indeed icky

Agreed. One of the big selling points of small cells is that they can be designed to blend into the existing surroundings. The hideous looking small cells like those pictured in Santa Rosa only add fuel to the NIMBY argument.

Those ones in Santa Rosa are definitely obtrusive.

^ First three pictures are very similar to the CC nodes in center city
Philly. Not quite sure why the three panel setup, they’re kind of ugly compared to the other crown castle sites in the area. I’ve only seen those 3 panels ones in philly and Baltimore.

These Santa Rosa, CA small cells look nothing like the ones I've seen in SFO and LAS: https://www.bohemian.com/northbay/th...nt?oid=5375527

Those are disgusting and idk how anyone could've approved that or thought that was a good idea at Verizon. Our nodes in Chicago have four full sized RRU's and are still much more discrete than that.

This is how it should be done.

Something tells me the transition to 5G won't be as smooth as 4G was.

Verizon barely gets OK for small cells in Palo Alto, CA. These proposed small cells look like the ones I've seen before in San Francisco: https://www.paloaltoonline.com/news/...equipment-plan
