Sounds like you are in a location with a strong AT&T signal. When there is already a good cell signal, a cradle or booster will often degrade the actual download speeds of the device that it is boosting. Bars and dbs don't tell the story anymore on new devices, especially those with built in MIMO antenna systems You might find that the Unite Explore gets faster download/upload speeds when it is NOT in the cradle. Test it both ways, being sure to run the speed tests at least 3 consecutive times each way.

Actually, the cradle improves both the signal strength and RSRP by 4-7dB, and download speeds by 5-10Mb/s That is better then the Netgear external antenna I used before.

I'm not sure what is considered a 'strong' signal, but current readings are -70dBm for signal strength and -100dBm for RSRP when in the cradle. The Nighthawk just says 'Fair'.

Every time I have checked I have been told that discounts (HBO, Directv, etc.) are not available on the $20 Mobley plan. At first they tell me yes (because they are desperate to sell those packages) but if they try they find that the Mobley standalone CCU plan does not qualify.

At first they always tell me yes since it is an unlimited plan (and they are desperate to sell those packages), but when they actually try to add them they find that the Mobley standalone CCU plan does not qualify.

It's like AT&T wants money to provide a service. The nerve!

I finally pulled the trigger and bougt a used Nighthawk M1 off ebay. I was getting 28mb/6-8mb pretty consistent with my Mobley. With the nighthawk sitting in the same spot, I'm pulling 82mb/12mb on every speedtest. Pretty happy with the results since it's the only way my parents can get broadband internet.

Debating if its worth buying an antenna for the Nighthawk or just leave it as is. Only have 2 bars of signal on the Nighthawk currently.

No, free HBO requires Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Choice plans.

28 is really good got a mobley, mine was only hitting 3-4Mbps i hot the unite explore an got speeds around 20mbps.....my area hsa to be overaload over att did do 2xCA/3xCA which sucks...reason why ur speeds are crazy good ur tower isnt overload or they enable the CA.

i was thinking of getting the nighthawk but i would like to try to it out first and see what speeds i get

Most areas my Mobley would only pull 2-6mb. If I was lucky, 15mb. For some reason at the house was always the best at 28mb. My phone pulls 60-80mb, and the Nighthawk is basically consistent at the top end of what my phone gets (Samsung Note 8). We are out in the country a bit so no surprise the towers are not overloaded, but I'm also surprised with only 2 bars we're pulling such good speeds. There's a spot couple miles down the road where my phone pulls 150mb. I need to take the Nighthawk over there and see if it matches.

Do you know if the Nighthawk fits on the DC112a smart cradle? Or can you measure the distance between the 2 antenna points on the bottom of the nighthawk? The reason I ask is the smart cradle boosts my speeds considerably. Thanks for any help.

It will not fit the nighthawk. Only the UE and older Netgear hotspots work in the cradle. Keep in mind that the cradle features are very buggy and the cradle wifi only works semi-reliably on a single band. Even that isn't that great. The nighthawk does an excellent job with RF and really doesn't need an external antenna unless you are in a fringe area.
