    Verizon Blocking New Activations of Most non-VoLTE Phones on Verizon Postpaid and Prepaid June 30

    https://www.prepaidphonenews.com/201...ns-of.html?m=0

    There's more than what I've quoted below.

    "On Wednesday we learned that Verizon is allowing its MVNOs to activate 3G and Non-VoLTE phones until December 31, 2018. That's an extension from the original June 30, 2018 cut off date for activating these devices. "

    "On December 31, 2019, the Verizon 2G and 3G networks will be shut down. 3G devices will no longer connect to the network and non-VoLTE LTE phones will not be able to make or recieve phone calls."

    This means everyone on TracFone CDMA needs to have a VoLTE capable phone working before December 31, 2019 to maintain cell service.

    Thank you tfusr19 for once again getting out this message. I saw the full ramifications of the Verizon 2G shutdown a good while ago and few bothered to take heed. 2G (1x) and 3g (EV-DO) will be gone. No voice or text on Verizon unless having a VoLTE capable phone. This not just a TracFone issue.

    The 6 month extension for 3G and non-VoLTE activations is just a band-aid. The hammer will fall end of 2019.

    This subject needs a Sticky of it's own in this forum. Anybody know how to do this? It is very important for every TracFone user to understand, and the information not get buried in the ebb and flow of ongoing threads. It is a life and death issue for your service!

    @loboheeler,
    I created a new thread. Probably only a moderator can make it sticky.

    I PM'd the moderator to request having it be made into a sticky thread.

    TacoDan - could it be because your network carrier isn't TFW??

    This phone is TFW my iPhone 7 shows Verizon

    I'm thinking it's because I have sim swapped these 2 phones

    I can't get it to work on the 7 either I get a similar message on it to call Verizon

    When I try to enable HD calling on my G3 it says it can't, try again later, but it says that every time. I'm on Verizon.

    Common to get a "contact Verizon" (or other) message when trying to do something that is only supported in direct Verizon service. Highly variable results people are seeing with BYOP and TF branded phones.
