Page Plus: "Better & faster data speeds"

I received the following text from Page Plus (71098):

Page Plus: Great news - our network has improved! Better & faster data speeds are now here! Click to learn more: http://A01.PGPL.CO.

Did anyone else receive this text? So far I have not noticed any difference in speed, but hopefully Page Plus will no longer be throttling just as I've read here on Howard Forums about other Tracfone brands.

Umm...that link looks suspicious. It's not immediately directed to Page Plus' domain at pagepluscellular.com. Moreover, there's no mention of this on their webpage. And, lastly, the 5 Mbps throttle is not by Page Plus, but is by Verizon, which limits all MVNOs to 5 Mbps download speeds.

And, no, I haven't received that text on any of the 3 PP numbers in our family.

I entered the link manually and came up fine. Didn’t redirect me to anything.

I know a lot of Total Wireless (Tracfone) users have been mentioning seeing uncapped speeds over the past few months. Is there any cap now?

Straight Talk VZN/CDMA service got a speed increase also. I think it must have been on VZN's end

The link in the text is shortened using a link shortening service. All shortened links redirect, that's how they work. This one redirects to extras.pagepluscellular.com/en/14979-A01

Having read here on Howard Forums about people suddenly getting much faster speeds on Total Wireless I was happy but not too surprised that the same would be true on Page Plus. But my download speeds are still around 5 mps, even after restarting my phone. Hopefully this was an authentic Page Plus message and hopefully these changes are coming.

At some point I'd expect the PagePlus brand to merge with one of their other brands.

I wish more could do tests on this. One person still getting low speeds could just mean their area is naturally slow

My download speed is still around 5 mbps--just over at 5.25 if that's significant (above the supposed 5 mbps cap?) A little disappointed, but hopefully the text I got indicates changes to come.

Let me just add I'm on Total Wireless getting 50 to 75 Mbps down. Just switched over with a new byod

A couple of us on TracFone saw the increase also. Mine is 45-55 Mbps down. One time close to a new tower got 42 up! Doing an Ookla Speedtest is expensive at these speeds, so I will use a small download just to verify it's still working. A 10 MB file is a blink of the eye.

Thinking Verizon is doing this as a test in select areas. Seems most users are still throttled.
