Why is my LTE so slow

So the tower nearest my office was recently upgraded, but the speeds are pretty lousy..it's running band 12. The towers a few miles north and south of here on the Parks Hwy typically put out 40+ Mbps but not this one.

Why is this particular tower so slow? Does AT&T need to do some work on the backhaul?

The latest. 7 plus.

I'll also add that it is an extremely rural area.

I'm guessing it was just upgraded to LTE? Give it a few weeks. Is it serving your home loc or work?

My work/home.

I'm on a long-term business trip in the interior of Alaska. Due to the lack of lodging in the area we built a 360 room facility to accommodate my workforce.

A slower download than upload typically indicates congestion on the Air Interface. They need to add another carrier to handle the traffic load.

Could be that they're waiting for fiber backhaul to be installed, and are still running that particular site on T1s for now?

I don't think T1 backhaul will even provide this high speed. This would at least require them 5-6 bonded T1s and why would they do that?

I've seen as much as 8 T1s at a site back in the mainstream 3G days. It's not uncommon.

They would do that if there is no other forum of internet. Especially since it being Alaska. I’d be happy I wouldn’t have to use satellite internet

But why can I travel 10 minutes in either direction on the highway and get 40+ Mbps from the adjacent towers?

It's probably a backhaul issue.

Depends on the area. I can travel 20 min and have barely any service with every carrier and only internet options are satellite.

But then again I have been in the middle of no where and oddly had crazy fast LTE speeds

I have used weBoost formerly Wilson Electronics with good success in rural areas in Colorado and west Texas. I wouldn't travel to Alaska without weBoost for my car.
