    Tracfone, iPhone 5, no data or talk (texting works)

    Hi all,

    We had an iPhone 5 on tracfone for 4 or 5 months with basically no issues. A few days ago, data and talk stopped working. We tried turning phone off, removing sim card, updating APN profile (tried both iphone.flexserve.net/select and ivzwentp.tracfone. Nothing helps.

    In settings, it shows Verizon as being the carrier. It shows Verizon on the top of the screen, but no bars of service. We can send texts. When we try to call, it acts like it is working but never rings.

    Here is the really weird thing: The Facebook app will loading things over the cell network. But if I open Safari, it says the iphone is not connected to the internet. If I open Skype, it says I need to connect to the internet.

    Texting works, but I'm wondering if it is sending the text over the data network like Facebook is using.

    I'm stuck. This is so weird. Any ideas?

    Have you checked your bucket balances? Are you using the phone at the same place where it worked before?

    try updating the iphone to the latest ios update and see if that helps.

    If you turn data off, you can confirm if texting is using data or not.

    Ios just got an update and may have something to do with it.

    I have updated my iPhone 6s to 10.3.3 recently and I have been facing the issue of "No service" since then. I have tried resetting my network setting, resetting my phone, hard reset and every possible solution out there on the internet and Apple discussion forums. However, the issue still pertains and I have not been able to get a fix to it. I have visited the store I purchased my Apple iPhone from but the retailer told me that multiple users are reporting issues of similar nature with the new update (10.3.3) and there are many discussions posted even here on the Apple official discussion forum.

    Yes, all my buckets are full.

    I'll try turning off data and see if texting works.

    I'll see if I need to update the ios, too.

    Ardyar thanks for the info/warning. Please keep us updated. I won't be installing the 10.3.3 any time soon.

    I have 10.3.3 on two Iphone 5's. One on Tracfone and one on Pageplus and have no issues with data.

    I've updated to 10.3.3 on my AT&T SIM and have no problems with it. I think it's a small percentage that are having problems.

    Also it seems to be mostly people with automatic updates when connected with wi-fi as opposed to downloading from ITunes. It seems as a slow or a disrupted connection corrupts the download.

    Thanks all. I turned off cell data and wireless, and the texting still worked.

    Contacted TracFone, and they finally got the RPL # and IMEI #, and reset something on their end. We also updated the phone to 10.3.3. I'm not sure which one solved the issue, but it is working now!

    Great! So it wasn't the update that was causing the problem.
