Watch 3 LTE and Wireless Plans

Throwing out a question that we may not know just yet, but here goes...

I'm likely to buy the new Apple Watch Series 3 w/ LTE, however I may have one glitch. My company pays for my phone service on Verizon on a business plan. I also have Verizon plan for my family and I have an iPad with data on there. My phone and iPad sync seamlessly with iMessages, Facetime, Handoff, etc....even though they are on separate plans, albeit the same carrier.

Do you think it'll be safe to assume the new watch will do the same as an iPad or this new eSim and system wants to be on the same plan?

Synchronization is done through the Apple ID so it does not matter what carrier you use.

In fact, one can use those apps without a cellular connection at all. They work with iPods and iPad without cellular connections as long as there is a connection to the Internet by other means.

The watch 3 shares a cell number with the iPhone. You will need to ask Verizon if they allow number sharing for an iPhone and watch 3 on different plans. The watch has to be configured with the number and verified by Verizon.

    Here are the requirements:

    1. Apple Watch and iPhone service provider must be the same. Not available with all service providers. Not all service providers support enterprise accounts. Check with your employer and service provider. Roaming is not available outside your carrier network coverage area. Wireless service plan required for cellular service. Contact your service provider for more details. Check www.apple.com/watch/cellular for participating wireless carriers and eligibility.

    2. Apple Music requires a subscription.

    3. Apple Watch Series 3 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010. This means that it may be used for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean. However, Apple Watch Series 3 should not be used for scuba diving, waterskiing, or other activities involving high-velocity water or submersion below shallow depth.

    4. Participating equipment manufacturers and gyms vary.
Here are the specifications and participating carriers. Note that there is no roaming.
