Anyone remember spending $200 on the Nokia E71 just for the SIM card.

I remember spending $200 on the Nokia E71 just to toss it in my drawer and pop it in my iPhone 3G at the time. I'm pretty sure they realized people were just buying them to use there own phones and really started up the prepaid market. Back then it was unlimited for $45 on att was a pretty good deal.

I bought it to be my daily driver. My first smartphone. Loved it. Such a good handset.

I bought and resold Nokia E71. I never opened any of the packages.

I discovered this SIM trick all on my own and I was excited when I could use my Moto Atrix instead.

Lol yeah, i spent tons of hours on here researching when that was a thing. Still have the Nokia upstairs in a box somewhere......

Looking back not sure if $200 on a Nokia then $400 for an iphone 4s on craigslist saved me much money vs traditional ATT but it sure was fun!

2 iPhones are better than one. Twice the fun. Ask anyone.

Yes I drove to Missouri just to get one as none of our stores in Omaha sold them. Did it twice.

My former cell phone mentor gave me his old one that he wasn't using anymore.
    Love that little phone.
It would be a good thing if I could get it unlocked cheaply just to goof around with.
I saw a character on the series Borgen using one on the first season.

I was mildly geeked seeing it in use.

I remember doing this also. When I got into the E71 SIM swap game the price for the E71 was down to $100. I swapped the SIM card into a Motorola Atix. I know in the beginning some people had paid over $200 for the E71 just to be able to swap the Sim card into another smart phone. I also remember when ST started just selling the unlocked SIM cards for $15 that could be used in any phone. That was unheard of at that time for MVNO's & these ST forums blew up for a while. Now ST seems to be an afterthought compared to other MVNO's.

Are you serious? Those E71's were humongous pieces of crap. The user interface was a joke.

I also thought the E71 was a great phone. Still miss having a querty keyboard. Symbian was a nice OS for the time.
