Yes, Band 7 is 10 Mhz whereas band 4 is 5 Mhz. However Band 66 is 15 Mhz so thats the fastest.

In terms of speed yes they will be similar. Regional variations do apply for example band4 is 10 MHz in southern Ontario etc.

I might be able to understand issues with BB10, but the K1 running Android should have no issues.

There must be a BlackBerry identification of some sort somewhere that gets sent to Freedom, then the profile they push to the phone/SIM locks out LTE.

The DTEK50 would probably show up as an Acatel Idol 4 or whatever it was, avoiding that tag/profile or whatever is going on on Freedom's end.

Anyone having issues on the PRIV? Wonder how the Band 66 Motion reacts?

I highly doubt anyone is running with a Motion on Freedom yet as it hasn't been available off contract to anyone outside of BB's current carrier partners. From what I've been told, there will be an announcement by January 9th and retail partners should start selling it sometime around then. A BBOS/BB10/Priv exchange programme 'should' be announced at the same-time too. I hope to have a Motion by the end of the month at the latest.

    My wife's PRIV is '4G' only (HSPA+)

Even on AT&T in the US...

So there must be a manufacturer identification, the K1 must be marked as a BlackBerry, that is sent when the SIM connects to the network. When the connection is made, it must be pushing some sort of profile to the phone that disallows LTE.

Not sure if there are any other explanations for this. Freedom doesn't sound interested in solving this problem either at this point.

I am looking forward to the details of the loyalty program.

I'm inclined to agree with you...

I can take my sim out of my phone, which is camping on band 4 LTE, drop it into my wife's PRIV and only see band 4 HSPA+.

It's odd, and I can't understand why they would do that. (Other than a hate for RIM, er Blackberry)

Anyone have an old BBOS device lying around to try? I wonder if it automatically sees BlackBerry and adds BIS, thus shutting out LTE?

I've got quite a few BBOS devices lying around but they all take the full size SIM and I don't have any adapters lying around. I did, however, pop my Freedom SIM into my Idol 4s W10 device and it showed LTE capability where as none of my BB10 devices do:
