What do you guys think of the new Speedtest app update? I think it’s pretty cool and it looks good, but it’ll take some time for me to get used to the new design.

I don't like it on the PC. It does not show the map of your location. I found this very useful when using a VPN and I wanted to verify the virtual location. For the phone app, it is OK.

I don't like the flat pastel look but that seems to be what's trendy right now.

I just updated my Android. Mine didn't change in appearance at all. Must be an Apple thing.

    New Ookla Speedtest Update

How accurate do you think Ookla SpeedTest is. I ran 2 speedtests in the same spot with 2 different apps and got 2 different results. I’m wondering if one is server congestion.

Maybe it’s just me but a 60 Mbps difference in download speeds seems a bit excessive

Ookla is generally considered the most accurate speed test there is. However, that depends somewhat on which test server is chosen. I see your RootMetrics test on the right side. I don't believe you have any control over the test server used in that app. Therefore, you might be comparing apples and oranges.

Results are fairly server dependent. Most stuff tries to use the local FTTP ISP's test server but they have bad peering to AT&T and verizon so I get much worse speeds to them than a server farther away.

I like the new design, I just don’t really like how the upload and download graphs are combined. I liked how they were separate, and bars instead of the lines we have now

They got rid of the "preparing" stage on the iPhone which is fantastic, but for some reason, I still have to sit thru "finding best server" on my GS8 even though I have one server selected...

I've been pestering them to remove that since 2 years ago.

I realize this thread is a little on the old side but for those who remember the Easter egg in the original app the one I just found in the new one blows it out of the water. Hold your finger down on the go button when the app first loads and you will get a surprise. Just make sure to keep it held down until the surprise appears.
