So with WiFi calling internationally, you would avoid the $7/day roaming fee? I thought WiFi calling was billed the same as regular calls?

$7 a day is US only. I believe international is $12 per day.

TELUS/Koodo and Bell/Virgin don't let you use Wi-Fi Calling outside Canada. I tried my best using a VPN to a Canadian server, but I only got it to work the first time. All subsequent attempts failed. I'll try again the next time I go to the US.

Only Rogers/Fido and Freedom Mobile let you use Wi-Fi Calling outside Canada.

Yes, Wi-Fi Calling is billed the same as regular calls. See your carrier's website for the exact details.

Ok, right. So if Rogers customers used WiFi calling in the US, they’d still have to pay $7/day. It’s not like those voice calls would be free from incurring roaming charges, right?

@toolcube: No, Wi-Fi Calling and Roam Like Home are two different things.

Rogers Wi-Fi Calling outside of Canada allows
    • Incoming calls and messages received from anywhere in the world
    • Outgoing calls and messages made or sent by you to a _Canadian_ number.

The above is only on Wi-Fi, of course.

If you have Roam Like Home, outgoing Wi-Fi calls or messages made to a _non-Canadian_ (e.g. US) number will incur the Roam Like Home daily charge.

So in the US, if you turn Flight Mode and Wi-Fi on, and you only call/text Canadian numbers, that is all free on Rogers -- you don't need Roam Like Home.

    Did I explain that well?
