    How is b71 working out?

Those that have either the v30 or the s8 active and have been in a b71 area, how is it working out? Curious about performance , coverage, etc

I know it's still early in the process

Coverage seems to be about the same as band 12. Speeds were around 30 down because it was only 5 Mhz and had no CA with any other bands. This was on two sites in west central Alabama

Sent from my LG-H932 using HoFo mobile app

I’ll second tmobilenatl, it’s about the same as B12. The area of Alabama I’ve been too (Gordo) off hwy-82 already has B12/2/71 so no meaningful coverage improvement right now.

Most of the “sketchy” service areas I visit already have B12 licenses, so I think they will need to build our cell sites to improve.

Our towards MS where there is no B12, B71 will be much more impactful.

Yeah the biggest differences will most likely be where they didn't have coverage before or in places where it was sketchy due to no b12.

Most of what I pick up on tmobile is b4(prob 95% of the time). Once in a while I'll see b12 and even h/h+ but usually I'm b4.

Oh, a T-Mobile employee told me he's hearing that two more b71 phones should be out by March that are more affordable than the two out now.

How can I tell what band I'm on using an iPhone, instead of using field test which I heard isn't that reliable. Looking for a much easier way.

    How is b71 working out?

S9 is confirmed to have b71 support.

Yes sir! B14 as well. Here are the CA combos for B71 and no surprise. No support for low band CA on the current docs:

The LG G7 will be the other phone along with the S9 to come out by March with B71. I expect some mid-range phones with B71 to be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) the week of February 26th.

Also, I think Band 71 will only be better at distances and building penetration over Band 12 until T-Mobile gets more than 5x5 Mhz of contiguous Band 71 rolling together in a area. Don't think at this point that T-Mobile has enabled Carrier Aggregation with Band 71 even if you have a 4x4 MIMO phone but it is being worked on except with B71 to B12 at this time.

Now I know why I don't have a shiny expensive new b71 phone. Dropped my cheap droid mini this morning and now has a line crack right through the middle of the screen. Would have really sucked if it was a new s8a or v30.

The S8A wouldn’t have cracked! It’s got a plastic shatter resistant screen

Forgot about that feature. I've dropped two phones a few times recently

You can get yourself a really cheap LG K20 plus to hold you over if you need something affordable. https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone/lg-k20-plus

I bought one at my local T-Mobile store today to play around with and for mid range phone it's pretty awesome. No OREO yet till Q2 of this year though.

Awesome reception on Band 12. Better than my iPhone 6s.

I had a k10(att) and it was a pretty good phone especially for the low price. A friend has the k20 and loves it on TMobile. I think the battery went from 2k to 2500 if I remember correctly.

Have you heard anything about the Revl? For $125, that’s not bad.
