    Question Nokia 8290 firmware

The latest version is 5.15 for Nokia 8290. Does anyone know what has improved for this version? Because I am thinking if I should ship my phone to Nokia to get my phone upgrade to the latest firmware.

    Thanks a lot.

This is what NOKIA had to say about the 8290 firmware upgrade.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Nokia Customer Care.

I am very sorry the information you are requesting is internal
information and is not available for release to the public.

A software upgrade is only performed when a Nokia technician determines
that an existing phone problem will be fixed as result of the software
upgrade. Unfortunately, software upgrades are not available upon
    customer request from Nokia.

Your service provider may offer software upgrades as they become
available. Please contact your service provider to determine if a
software upgrade is available for your phone.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you require further assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Marja

    Arrow

    Well,

They figure if they give you the answer that the new firmware now stores email addresses or something, like the 8260 does, then you will want to upgrade.

You will then post this info in places like this and then a lot of ppl want to upgrade. And i doubt they have a way to capture the revenue they could get from upgrades so they don't offer them. Its probably not cost efficient and they don't want the demand to rise.

    Well isn't someone lucky?

Just rub it in all of our outdated firmware faces.

    Hahaha jk

The upgrade might just make the phone more efficient, the processes use less power and stuff like that. I dunno
