I agree, and especially for any phone that costs more than $50! For under $50, if it's a good phone, I'll deal with a locked bootloader and/or apps that can't be removed. Case in point: My $30 AT&T GoPhone LG Phoenix 2, which has been really a surprisingly good phone. But if it would have cost over $50, I would have probably gotten a fully unlocked phone for around $100.

First of all, DO NOT buy your phone from a service provider. Buy directly from some place like Best Buy, and don't let them sell you a contract.

I would agree, except in this instance Amazon is not a carrier or service provider. They subsidize the devices by embedding their applications and formally lock screen ads.
I take it is still difficult, if not impossible, to unlock the boot loader on many (all) of the devices Amazon sells?

If you are in the market for a unlocked or carrier agnostic device I would recommend B&H, just have to keep an eye out for a sale to get your best deal.
Unlike many TF Inc. Subs in recent weeks and now months, TF Inc. not showing much love to their TF service customers.

The lock screen ads are still there. If you have notifications you don't get full screen ads and they are easily ignored.

I am an Amazon fan. What's not to like. They sell everything, if you are a regular buyer prime is a deal. Returns are easy. I thought my Moto 5G Plus was a deal at $239.00

Update the "Amazon offers" app in the Google Play store. That should remove the lock screen ads.

I don't think you can force the update. I believe they said it will roll out over time.

When you go to Google Play Store from your devices look for the app "Amazon Offers". Click "update" The app itself was updated Feb. 6th.

It's a rollout. When I do the above I do not have the update option. Nor does deleting it and reinstalling force the update.
