    Autopay Split Bill Question

    Good Morning.

I am looking to switch my family over to Verizon from AT&T. We would be going with the less expensive Unlimited plan offering. My question is this - Currently we can each pay a portion of our bill with a credit card. Can this be done with AutoPay as well? Or can we make payments to Verizon before the autopay is initiated each month, reducing the amount of the withdraw?

    Thanks!

You must link the autopay to a a checking account in order to receive the discount. However, you don't actually need to let auto pay do the payment. So the steps are:

    - setup autopay
    - link it to a proper checking account
    - a few days before autopay is scheduled to pay, pay the bill yourself with a credit card

Awesome, thanks! So technically we could do the same as we do now, with each user calling in and paying a portion before the autopay date.

Yes, that will work. I've made multiple payments and had this work out. I would recommend that all manual payments be made about 5 days before the autopay kicks in. I've done it closer than that, but the web user interface will warn you that it could result in a duplicate payment. I think the idea is that autopay decides what it's going to have to pull in advance, and you want to make sure that's $0 before that time.

I would also say that once midnight hits of the auto pay date, the payment is going thru on auto pay irregardless.

I have a different question concerning this. Let's say I use my checking account to set up auto pay to get the discount. Can i go in 5 days sooner and pay it with my credit card, this way I get the Verizon discount and I would also get my credit card perks thru the credit card.

Yes, that's precisely why I do it. It will work fine.
