    MMS downloads won't work

I have a Pixel 1 on Cricket. Using stock Android 8.1, the messaging app just spins on any MMS message for download 33kB.

    These are my settings:

    MMSC: http://mmsc.aiowireless.net
    MMS Proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net
    MMS Port: 80
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 150
    Authentication Type: Not Set
    APN Type: default,mms,fota,hipri,supl
    APN Protocol: IPv4
    APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled (but greyed out)
    Bearer: Unspecified
    MVNO type: None
    MVNO value: Not set

In the past, I've had issues with downloading MMS when on WiFi. Disable WiFi and see if the message downloads.

Use Signal SMS / MMS app. It is secure and MMS works perfectly on it.

Stock Android SMS / MMS app doesn't work well. Samsung SMS / MMS app works fine if you have a Samsung device also.

Try another message app like textra to see if it works. If it doesn’t then it’s your APN, sim or account settings.

Here's how you fix your APN settings: take your Pixel to a modern network.

This is b1geast level of feisty!!

By modern network, you mean like Verizon, where you get 0.07 mbps speeds, similar to dial-up?

Verizon has no coverage where I go in SC, worthless network here. Tmobile and Sprint are the same problem. It's AT&T/Cricket or no service. For $35 bucks it's a nice deal. MMS is not that important to me, I get one now and then and for some reason they don't work. When I had my Nexus 6p they worked.

Back in the old days, HOFOer “dougeebear” posted a solution to messaging problems: He used a 2 APN setup. Try searching and see if you can find his posts discussing it.

I second the Textra messaging app suggestion. You won't look back once you try it.

I read the app details. I don't see the allure. Grown men using emojis like a teenage girl are people I don't text. Doesn't look like it syncs with your tablet and PC like Mighty Text. I don't drink anymore so I don't text things I'm going to regret. So I can make it have different themes?

I tried the Textra app, same issue. I changed these settings that RateChopper recommended and it's working now.

    MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
    proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net

What’s wrong with having fun? Sometimes a puking emoji conveys how you feel instead of texting “I’m under the weather.”

And you haven’t lived until you get into a gif war with someone.

Make sure you only have one APN configured. Pixels have an issue currently on Cricket where it pulls incomplete APNs at reboot.
