    Freedom on board with RCS

    Google Blog, Feb 22

We’ve been partnering with the mobile industry to improve the messaging experience on Android with RCS (Rich Communication Services), bringing more enhanced features to the standard messaging experience on mobile devices. As of today, we are working with 43 carriers and device manufacturers to bring better native messaging to every Android user.
    ...
Over the past year, carriers across Europe, North America and Latin America including America Movil, AT&T in Mexico, Celcom Axiata Berhad, Freedom Mobile, Oi, Telia Company and Telefonica joined Deutsche Telekom, Globe Telecom, Orange, Rogers Communications, Sprint and Telenor Group in their commitment to launch RCS messaging, powered by the Jibe RCS cloud from Google. They will also preload Android Messages as the default messaging app for their subscribers... Collectively, they represent more than 1.8 billion mobile subscribers worldwide.

    --
What is RCS messaging? and How does it work?

What is RCS and why is it important to Android?

    Hmm interesting

The testing for this could be why there are so many LTE SMS failures being reported lately
    Koodo $40 Canada Wide + 8GB + 1000 Intl LD
    Public $120 Province Wide + 12GB - $6 Autopay - $12 Loyalty - $45 Refer = $19 per Month
    Freedom $35 ($37-BTS) North America Wide + 8GB + 1GB Roaming

Guess I owe someone an apology.

I switch LTE off at home when I'm on WiFi, but at work I leave it on.

    Ah Ha!

We have found the source of the SMS wonkiness!

(I haven't seen any of it, myself. But...)

RCS will be cool, for sure...

Which device do you use? I don't see Chat option under Android Message on my OnePlus 6T.

Right. Now I remember seeing it on my unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, too.

It looks like freedom mobile has turned on RCS on my OnePlus 6T. I see Chat feature on Google Messages now.
