    Sony XA1 Ultra

Curious if anyone has this phone and what they think of it?

The people at Freedom store imply reliability is very low on these devices
    Public $120 Province Wide + 12GB - $6 Autopay - $9 Loyalty - $45 Refer = $20 per Month
Telus SK North American Wide 7GB = $65
    Chatr (Mobi) $40 North America Wide + 6GB + 30 Mins Roaming
    Freedom $35 ($37-BTS) North America Wide + 8GB + 1GB Roaming

Not the ultra, but a family member has the XA1. The edges of the screen on that unit are no responsive (very common complaint) and it will be sent in for repair promptly. From what I've heard, that issue has been fixed, and repaired devices do not usually suffer it again, but I don't know for sure. I should also add that it is quite severely bent. Not to the point where it is unusable, but it's pretty bad IMO. The owner isn't the most careful with it, but no previous phones of theirs have been visibly bent like this one. I'll try to post pics later

I have the xa1, not ultra. Very good design, display and reception. Only problem is the fingerprint scanner. I think thats why its on sale.

I ask because the phone looks great for the price
    Seriously

But the rep in store told me nearly 1 in 3 repairs he needs to send back in are Sony

Also out of curiosity; anyone know if it is possible to send directly to Sony?
Reps claimed repairs must be done in store you purchased phone from but website seems to contradict this

    My daughter has one...

Works fine... The screen got cracked when it fell down two flights of stairs on cement.

I wouldn't buy it knowing the XA2 is already out.

I had it and returned it.

The MediaTek processor is okay and performance is actually pretty good. But it's Bluetooth/Wifi chip is badly optimized. If you have Bluetooth while WiFi is on, it kills the Wifi. You're still connected but you won't be able to access the internet. Switching Wifi networks (let's say from 5G to 2.4G) will say Authentication error occurred even though the password is correct (and other devices connect to the same network just fine).

Also, you won't be able to pair/scan for new devices (or existing devices) if you have bluetooth location turned on.

It's not a bad phone. But the bluetooth/wifi issues killed the deal for me.

    Well
I got it, played around with it, chickened out & sold it (lol)

So I have a net profit of $350
I am on a contract for 24 months

But I did it in the end to get the free Sony Bluetooth Headset that Freedom is giving out (I see Bestbuy sells em for $129 + taxes)
