Now that we have our first official Band 14 device (Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+), let’s see who can spot band 14 first!

Allen, KY and Garrett, KY towers here in Floyd County, Kentucky are getting B14. I have confirmed this with a few sources. I am not sure as to why those locations are receiving it when other areas in eastern Kentucky desperate need 700 MHz (our lowest right now is B5 850 MHz). Pikeville is so congested and indoor coverage is so poor it’s useless downtown. I am hoping B14 fixes this.

Anyways, anyone else have any information on B14? What the equipment will look like?

My Spectrum Analyzer (RTL-SDR) can see Band 14 active near De Soto, MO on 763 MHz Downlink.

That’s weird, as the FirstNet MCC-MNC has been active nationwide for several weeks now.

I was under the impression that AT&T would be adding "new coverage," as-in expanding their network geographically to new areas with the FirstNet spectrum?

If they only plan on covering 95% of Americans over a 5 year period then they already ceded the coverage department argument to #3 who plans to offer LTE/5G to more Americans than that. (unless they plan to expand geographically using existing spectrum bands?)

Those aren't mutually exclusive. They've built out a lot of rural areas with B17 and/or 5, so they may leave those alone, and build out areas that currently have HSPA+ or No Service with 14/66/30 plus whatever they own in the core 2/4/5/17 bands.

I don't see a good reason to re-build the upper half of the lower penninsula of Michigan for example, where they have B5 or B17 plus a metric assload of B2, which is almost as good as 5/17 anyway. My guess is they hit the population hotspots with B14, plus any new coverage builds.

Keep in mind, Band 14 will utilize hpue. That will do wonders in rural areas. I'm sure they'll get it on many rural towers.

I did not know this. This makes me very excited for band 14 now. Where I work signal barley makes it in buildings. Hopefully I won’t have a problem once this is launched.

Hpue should really help with power and getting the signal to those hard to reach spots. I believe it's allowed to transmit at higher power without the interference issues (could be wrong)

Sprint mentioned it at one time but not sure what happened.

Is band 14 the only one that can at this point?
