In my case I saw it show up on the CellMapper app and verified that the EARFCN was accurate and it wasn't a mis-reading, since the app is not immune to erroneous readings though that's most prevalent on old hardware using an old API. I've found that B14 is most likely to show up in a weak signal area when the phone searches for signals, though on a few occasions I've been driving down the road or riding a train and notice my phone has just ended up on B14. I also assume, unscientifically, B14 is not in an area if I routinely hit weak signal spots in that area where the phone searches for service and not once shows B14 even under neighbor cells.

I've seen B14 all across Illinois in the I-55 corridor as well as extreme eastern Missouri, though have looked for it in central Missouri and not found it. The panel upgrades are quite a bit farther behind in central Missouri compared to the St. Louis metro though.
AT&T customer since 2007; Alltel 2004-07. Android user since 2014 and will never go back to Apple.
I recommend and use CellMapper for testing and mapping signal coverage and have contributed extensively in the greater St. Louis region and surrounding states.

Band 14 observed in downtown Washington DC today for the 1st time. Band 30 was added not too long ago as well. Seeing band 66, but not sure if it is just MFBI on band 4?

What is the earfcn? When they upgrade to band 14, they'll add 30 if not already there and 66.

There is a site not too far from me here that has 14,2(x2), and 12. No 5,30, or 66. Weird.

I'm thinking one of two things.
Either the hardware was added and their waiting on backhaul, or it is a very rural low traffic site. I believe Digital Rules is in the DC area, which is why I made the assumption of the bands being added.
I haven't been upstate in a couple of months, weather has just been too brutal up there every time I have the chance to go. Wondering how much progress they've made.

This one is more of a rural site but it's along Interstate 69 west of Port Huron which has a lot of traffic going to and from Canada. Funny they'd pick there to use 14 and not the other bands..

I've never been to the upstate area, but hear it's really nice. I bet there's a couple feet of snow at least and the riding is great! I think they will be hitting the rural areas pretty good this year. Other than the BBU upgrades, they haven't really touched the panels on many of the sites out this way.

It's easy, in order to be AWS-3 the earfcn must be higher than 66886.

Yes. This will identify the exact carrier block:

King of Prussia, PA. Have also seen it this weekend in other areas of Philly, too. It’s really expanded in the past month.

I've started seeing some Band 14 in Alaska, specifically in the Wasilla area and around parts of Anchorage.

Has it been helping signal in weak areas? It has here in NYS, where deployed.

Yes, that is correct. SCC is a secondary component carrier, which enables carrier aggregation.
