    * 500 minutes averages out to 23 min per weekday.
Go over quota and you're paying $18 for a 30 min local call.
    Won't that be a surprise!

There's no overage cap mandated for voice.
And no quota alerts sent out.

This is clearly market specific as prices haven’t budged for QC.

Man, the telecom market here in Canada is horrendous. Prices keep going up, where in the US there is constant competition driving prices down. You’ll now see Bell and Rogers follow suit since the big 3 always ride each other’s coattails when it comes to pricing.

Update: there's a $5 add-on now for unlimited anytime minutes.

    So 1GB with unlimited Canada-wide talk, $55.

Ouch.......so when are Fido and Virign following up with increases of their own? The 3 amigos . I would never pay those prices....I'll stick to my $40/6GB plan for as long as I can. If this keeps up, I'll probably have to switch to one of those pre-paid pay-as-you go sim cards from 7/11 .

I think this is the retribution for all those $60 / 10 gig plans that went out the door in December. Gotta maintain that shareholder value...

Were going backwards here in Canada. Prices should be going down. Not up.

Just NO. A single line in the US cost $70 USD/month give or take (and some dont include Canadian roaming or cheap international calling). That is ~95 CAD. Look, I moved to the US and the cell phone prices are horrendous here. No company here beats my Fido plan. I will pay 2X to get the same ****. Not cool. For what Fido gives me for $65/month in Canada, I will pay ~$95 US. Keeping Fido+Roaming used to be cheaper (USD 90!) but now after they jacked it up its USD 120.

Take a look at some of the MVNO's. Their prices should be much lower

Don't get too excited about US pricing. It's not all wonderful here, either. Granted, prices were coming down the last couple years, but that's stabilized now. The main benefit I see with US pricing over these plans is that anything in the US these days pretty much comes with unlimited talk and text...at least until you start to get into the ultra cheap MVNO offerings.

I do feel for Canadians, though. Some of those prices (particularly the prices the good network(s) charge) are insane.
