Did you manage to unlock it?

After calling again they unlocked it without charging, they said some department dont know what they are doing. To them any phone that was purchased before Dec 1, 2017 can be unlocked but you have to pay $50.00

I got it unlocked for free

I've unlocked several different phones that used to be on our corporate account. A couple of android and a couple of iPhones (5 and 6).

    Take the phone home
    Call in the evening
Tell them you bought the phone on Kijiji (or Craigslist, etc...)
They will unlock it for you for free

I unlocked a few iPhones on a Bell corporate account and I still had to pay the $50.

I unlocked one this week, and it's still $50, to pay immediately on credit card.

This enraged me so much that it contributed greatly to our decision to leave Bell for all our services, hundreds of landlines, hundreds of cell phones, Internet links and not consider them for our hosted services.

I am quietly disconnecting all our services with them and they just don't care.

Call from your home phone. Tell them you bought the phone and want it unlocked. It won't cost you a cent.

The Apple store doesn't unlock phones, the carrier has to request it from Apple corporate. The Apple store can sell unlocked phones.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

I find this very hard to believe. You need a new account manager. Bell wouldn't let an account as big as yours (hundreds of landlines and hundreds of cell lines??? Really?) go over a few unlock fees.

If anyone's looking for a PROPER corporate account manager, message @WorldIRC here on HoFo. He'll take care of your account properly and won't let an account go over a couple of unlock fees. I bet he'll even find out that you're paying too much handling things yourself.

unlocking should be free, there is no way someone should charge you now that trudeau gov mandated it was free. i would call back and ask to be refunded, also ask for a supervisor to listen to the recording of your previous call and have the rep repreimanded or disciplined for not following proper company protocol and ripping off customers. no one should rip off a customer and get away with it. if that happened to me id make a stink and the guy who charged me when it was free would be facing disciplinary action right now or I'd go to the media
I put the "HO" back in "HOFO"

Try using Bell or Virgin chat, don’t tell them it’s from a corporate account (even if it doesn’t matter, per the new CRTC regulations). Trust me, I was in the business before and 99% of phones we bought were previously on corporate accounts.
