    Exclamation NEW to MetroPCS Again

So I have not been with MetroPCS since high school days way back in 04-07 time frame most likely from what I recall. So nowadays, how is MetroPCS's service, since their merger with T-Mobile? Does MetroPCS use GSM SIM Cards or are they still CDMA? If I bought a new phone from them today, can I get it unlocked?

They are 100% GSM. They run solely on the T-Mobile network.

their unlocking policy just went from 90 days to 180 days active service. I don't know if the same applies if bought outright without subsidy

Not happening. Pay a 3rd party unlocker ~$10 If you need an immediate unlock.

Well if they are GSM, where does the SIM Card go, for the phones without the removable battery or back of the phone?

Most phones have a pop out SIM tray on the side. EVERY smartphone uses a SIM/UICC card now, for LTE, not just the ones on GSM networks.

Most phones(lower end) that have a built in battery still have a back cover that comes off to put in the sim card/memory card, and most use the tray feature like the samsung S series have used.
