Cheap Verizon Prepaid Refill Cards on eBay

I was curious if anyone knows how these cheap refill cards on eBay are "acquired". It seems odd to me that sellers can sell a $40 refill card for $33.00 so my first thought is that these cards are purchased with stolen credit cards.

I've purchased many from eBay and never had an issue but I'm curious if other people have run into problems and if so what happened.

Most likely they are purchased with a
Stolen CC. I think VZ can tell if you bought one and can shut down your account for no reason.

People could also be purchasing these with reward points and selling them. Just like many people do with Store gift cards.

Personally I find it easier to just get them from Target when they have a 10% off sale. Then you use the Target Red Card for 5% off giving you an effective 14.5% off the price of the refill Pin. So a $40 refill pin costs $34.20.

Do you know of anyone who's had their account shut down because of this?

I’ve been buying these for a while from a reputable seller whose been selling these for years and they’ve worked perfectly, the only thing I could find when googling what was said above were some results about straight talk, nothing about any Verizon prepaid refill scams/account shutdowns. And the straight talk users accounts weren’t shut down, they just had to make another refill to get back up and running.

Different times throughout the year. I just try to check periodically to catch them since the sale usually lasts at least a week. Sometimes they will have several sales during the course of only two or three months.

Do you buy a lot at one time- do they last throughout year or expire?

I usually by a bunch at one. Like around six months worth or so. But the longest I've held on to them has been around 5.5 months.

Don't you think the owner of the card would call the bank he or she lost the card?

The card doesn't have to be physically stolen to have fraudulent charges on it.

I bought a refill card from the same seller on Ebay over the weekend and it worked fine. I wish I had know about the 15% discount, I would have waited the few days and saved more money. Either way, I paid only $28.99 for a $40 refill card so I got my monthly $40 Verizon Prepaid service for $28.99, not a bad deal. (no extra fees or taxes) The seller Emailed me the PIN number from the card a few minutes after I purchased it from him and I entered the code in the My Verizon App under the payment section. It did take a about a hour for the payment to show up in my account but everything went smoothly.

From what I've read on SlickDeals apparently eBay is having these coupon code sales once a month. If so, it would make sense to wait for the coupon code sale before buying refill cards. I guess a lot of sellers raise their prices on the day of the coupon code sale. I haven't seen this happen with sellers of VZW refill cards, however.

You can apparently get notified of "great deals, special events, discount coupons and other special offers" from eBay by enabling "General email promotions" in your eBay account settings:

    Account settings>>Communication Preferences>>Promotions and Surveys>>General email promotions*
