Breaking: Justice Department will appeal $85 billion AT&T, Time Warner merger

The Trump administration has little concern about the costs to consumers. This is evidenced by the many anti-consumer actions taken, such as trying to end the Affordable Care Act, imposing tariffs which increase costs of goods and curtailing consumer protection agencies. By eliminating net neutrality, they made it possible for information carriers to give preference to contents provided by those information carriers. AT&T is operating WarnerMedia separately from its other businesses in case of an appeal.

ACA is too expensive, and the government knows it. If they can’t end it, they will change it drastically.

Us being balanced on tariffs is fine. If it costs too much, maybe they’ll move manufacturing back to the US? Wouldn’t that be a nice change?

AT&T is doing the song and dance that the companies are separate. In reality they are not, whether or not they want to act like they are.

After you spend billions, you have to get it back. Raise fees elsewhere to cover what you spent and make more in the process.

If you think they are functioning separately, I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you...

How would reversing the merger cause the carrier to reduce price increases already imposed? Bear in mind that we should only be addressing price increases related to AT&T Mobility, which were not even in the Department of Justice's earlier arguments against the merger. I taste sour grapes.

DirecTV Now, which concerns AT&T Mobility customers, increased its prices to the level of its competitors. It is customary for the new kid on the block to offer lower introductory prices to get customers into the door.
