Bill of Sale on Old Phone

I bought a phone from a friend a couple years ago, and it has proven to have a defect. Samsung would like a copy of the purchase to verify ownership in order to deal with it.

I did a chat online with Telus this morning, the lady was great, but at the end, she said because my friend had closed her account, they could no longer access the original information, relating the handset to her. The Telus rep even went over to Support and received this answer.

Are there any other ways of getting some kind of copy of the invoice, contract, or bill of sale from Telus that may have been overlooked here?
Here I am, Platinum customer, with Big T since '91 and no calls, calendars, nada. I'd sure like to be feeling the love...

If you bought the phone a couple years ago, how could it still be under warranty ?? For instance, if you were using a Note 7 and are having the prior, well-known battery issue, you may be out of luck. Manufacturer warranties are usually only 12 months long. What type of defect are your experiencing ?

I think only your friend can contact their current or former carrier to see if they can provide a copy of the original invoice and nothing else you could do.

Keep us updated no matter what happens.

Yeah, even with a proof of purchase they won't do anything since warranty is long expired.

Maybe that, just in order to service the phone, even out of warranty, they want a proof of ownership to make sure they’re not working on stolen devices.
