Vancouver Is there any difference between Telus and Koodo in terms of...

    Hello All,
I am thinking of switching to Koodo from Rogers because of coverage in my area of Vancouver. Is there any difference between Telus and Koodo in terms of:
    network coverage/network priority?
    VOLTE?
    Wifi calling?
    Easy Roam?

    Anything else i missed?

    thanks,

    Simon

TELUS and Koodo are the same thing right now ONLY IF you own an iPhone. If you have an Android phone, both TELUS and Koodo suck, to put it mildly, when it comes to VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling: TELUS only officially supports the LG G6 and Koodo only officially supports the LG V30.

Both Koodo and TELUS were supposed to add VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling support yesterday for the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+, but that didn’t work out. I was on long holds with Koodo and all I got was a question: ‘Can I do without it?’ WTF? And I’ve been waiting a day and a half on Koodo’s Twitter chat page just for a response! WTF?

No, chatr doesn’t have crap coverage. Chatr is owned by Rogers and has the same coverage as Rogers.

I have plans with TELUS, Koodo, and chatr now so I know what I’m talking about.
TELUS: Unlimited Canada-wide Talk, Text and 15 GB Data
Koodo: Unlimited Canada-wide Talk, Text and 8 GB Data
chatr: $60 Unlimited In-zone Talk, Text and Data (20 GB at 3G speed)

In terms of coverage and network priority, there is no difference. I don't know about the other questions.

So does that mean that Telus and Koodo support VOLTE and Wi-Fi calling with iPhones?

    Thanks

Yes to both, as long as you have 'An iPhone 6 or newer'.

I thought a big advantage Rogers/Fido have in Vancouver is coverage in the SkyTrain tunnels in downtown Vancouver. It's only a few stations and the tunnels linking them so it might not be a big deal.

How is Koodo customer service. Someone told me there is a fee if you call customer service. Is that true?

Koodo customer service was horrible last week. It was the first time I used it.

On my first call, I was on hold for over an hour. When the CSR answered, I gave him the answer for my problem directly from the Koodo Community. He kept me on hold quite a bit, then gave me BS about my SIM card being too old even though I just recently signed up.

On my second call, I was on hold for over two hours! Then TELUS came on the line announcing they were ending my call to Koodo! WTF?

After more than three full days, a CSR finally responded to my Twitter Chat with Koodo! He was excellent and solved the problem right away. Yay

There is a fee if you could have logged into your Self Serve account and fixed your issue yourself. I believe it's $10. There is NO charge if you cannot fix the issue yourself.

This is their fee schedule. Pretty much $10 cost for something that can be done online. Their customer service is all over the map. Some agents are good, some should not work in customer service.
