Suggestions for midrange phone compatible with T-mo?

My brother is planning on using T-mobile's promotion to buy out his current Sprint leased phone to get him off that carrier. But, it seems he is required to hand over his phone as part of the deal (Essential PH1).
I think he wants to avoid the whole leased handset thing going forward, so I'm trying to help him find something mid-range that he can buy outright. He was considering a Nokia 6.1 Plus until we realized they don't have a version with US bands.

I know Black Friday deals are coming up soon, but he really wants to get out of Sprint ASAP (they have done some horrible nonsensical things to his bill and he wants to drop them immediately). Any suggestions?

Not classified as mid range but the Motorola moto e plus 5th Gen is a lot of phone for a cheap price. I have one on my account and it’s a solid performer and it has band 71

I agree with Bolthead about the Moto.

There is also this one for $200: https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid/browse/LGK30 They'll let him take it home for zero down plus sales tax and roughly $8 a month if he does want to finance it. I like this one especially because it's the perfect size (not too big or too small) and it feels good in the hand (doesn't feel cheap).

I'm thinking about replacing my old Galaxy Avant but the price point for band-71 phones has not dropped enough. I'd like to see the some more 3rd party offerings of band-71 compatible devices, first.

    moto e $150 has B71

    LG K30 $200 has B71

    moto e plus $220 has B71

    Samsung Galaxy J7 Star $250 has B71

    LG Stylo 4 $250 has B71

Not sure how cheap of a price point you want but thats a pretty healthy selection of B71 capable phones for not a lot of money
