@newtoy101, you can't use a freedompop number to initially register for a gv number. You can however later use a freedompop as a forwarding number.

This is my first month on FreeUp mobile using their free account:
Account renewal date: June 30, 2019
Account balance last night: 900+ minutes
    Account balance today: 0 minutes.

The usage log will indicate that I have used much fewer than 1000 minutes/texts.

Called FreeUp mobile support. I was told that I have used up all 1000 minutes. I could renew now or wait until June 30 to renew for free.

I told the rep that there was over 900 minutes left last night. He said he will consult with their IT department and for me to call him back in 1 hour.
Has this happen to any of you? If so, what was the resolution.
    Thank you.

Hey Guys. I just want to verify does FreeUp charge any taxes or fees on the free plan? I mean if you don't go over your monthly allowance the credit card on file will not get charged, correct? Thanks in advance.

@eurojam Free is free.. No monthly taxes here (il/chicago area).

@Phone_test Call back and ask to escalate the call to a supervisor. I've not experienced your issue, but earlier this month my renew date changed from the end of the month to July 13. Minutes also reset. We'll see what happens on or around this date.

GPZ1100 Thank you for the suggestion.

I called back 2-1/2 hours later. The same rep answered the phone. He remembered talking with me. He said he had not gotten a reply from the IT team and decided to go ahead to renew my account. That also changed the next renew date to July 25th. Will have to see what happens then.

I've been using the Freeup Mobile free plan for the past 3-4 months. This is on a backup phone that doesn't get much use. No major issues so far other than the occasional spam call/text. I did notice, like others have mentioned, that my renewal date has been changed. Used to be last week of each month so it was easy to remember.

    Guys.

I'm looking for a really cheap phone (for this service) that can do texting and has long battery life (days). What do you recommend?

    All phones can do texting.

The cheapest phones that will work on FreeUp are usually AT&T Prepaid phones. Find one that has the features you want. A flip phone will probably have the longest standby battery life.

Try AT&T prepaid phones. BestBuy carries them. Watch for the sales. An Alcatel phone was $25 on sale.

FreeUP charges your account 2-3 days before the account rollover date (for a paid plan), to insure that you have enough time to correct an error before your account is suspended. This "charge on" date is displayed on the free plans, too. They don't do a good job of explaining the difference between the 2 'renewal' dates, but that's likely what you're seeing.

I believe for purposes of requesting a renewal of the free plan, you need to confirm before the "charge on" date, so it's a good thing it's indicated.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked their homepage and you are correct. I signed up two days ago for their free 1,000 minute/text plan. Does anyone know if I am now grandfathered in, or if I will be changed to the new 250 plan when I renew my plan? My account is still showing 1000 min at this point. I think people who signed up several months ago got 100mb of data, and are they still getting this? So are free plan levels grandfathered, or will we be changed to the new 250? Thanks for any insight!
