The latest Odin firmware is able to flash the latest Oreo firmware which comes in lz4 format and this format focuses on compression and decompression speed. But you cannot open latest Oreo firmware file via DiskInternals Linux Reader on Windows. You have to extract it using a utility which has been launched by Cyan4973, a developer from the Github developer. As mentioned previously Samsung Odin is a Windows-based application. But you can use Heimdall or java Odin on Mac or Linux computers.

    How To Download Samsung Odin Flash Tool And Flash A Stock ROM

    Before proceeding, get a full back of the device and enable USB debugging mode on your device

    Step 01 - Download accurate Samsung Odin version according to the Android version of your device
    Step 02 - Download correct USB drivers and Install
    Step 03 - Download the correct and device compatible stock firmware file in with .tar or .tar.md5 extension
    Step 04 - Activate Download Mode on your device using the correct button combination
    Step 05 - Now, connect your smartphone using a compatible USB cable and run the Samsung Odin programme
    Step 06 - Then, you can have a window with several buttons with short names. Click each button and load the relevant file in the stock firmware file

    Ex: BL Button - BootLoader file (File name starts with "BL")
    CP - modem firmware (File name begins with "CP" )

    Step 07 - After loading check again if everything is right and click "Start" button to flash device
    Step 08 - The process will be completed after 12 minutes and then click the "Reset" button in ID: COM area
    Step 09 - Reset button will restart your device with the new firmware installed

    Note: Installing a stock firmware may cause a boot loop. If you are facing the same condition, perform data/factory reset via the stock recovery.
