It's been discussed time and again it won't work unless it's AT&T branded, pixel 3 or iPhone.
I guess I'm lucky right now that i prefer iPhones. I would prefer not to buy carrier branded phones so it is easier to switch. Hopefully, at some point if I would prefer to use a specific Android phone model, ATT will improve their BYOP policy.
iPhone 12 Pro is my current phone I carry.

I'm right on the edge of hitting up T-Mobile which isn't choosey over this stuff, unfortunately I'm running a four month balance with AT&T.

I'm also one of the odd ones that has a prepaid plan and a Pixel 3.

I was "this" close to considering a T-Mobile plan late November last year because no VoLTE on ATT Prepaid. Also so I could get cellular for my Apple Watch. That is when I first heard of VoLTE coming to ATT (I think I was first one to report it here on HF).

The main disadvantage of T-Mobile for me is mostly resolved since I have a backup phone on a Verizon MVNO. Which helps on coverage in case of a road trip problem.

Thought this might help anyone who doesn’t see it activate automatically.

I dug up a 6S IMEI and ran it through a IMEI checker to make sure it was valid. Stuck that in the portal, rebooted my phone etc and it still didn't work for me. Stuck my Pixel 3 IMEI in the portal and still didn't work, still drops to H+ on calls and WiFi calling won't enable. Only interesting thing is I keep getting different failure messages for WiFi calling which is interesting but never the one saying it isn't available for prepaid.

Anyone in South Carolina get this working?

Anyone with a Pixel 3 not get this working?

I guess I'll call in to morrow.

Not working in NC, and I suspect the Carolinas are still grouped together when it comes to technology changes.

Just switched my girlfriend's Pixel 2 XL to prepaid as well and she gets VoLTE and HD Voice. No wifi calling though, the option isn't even there on the device.

For how long did you have it working?

If you really need voice over LTE and WiFi but don't want to change phones or carriers just sign up for a free Google Voice number and use the Google voice number in the Google Voice app to make calls over LTE an WiFi. That combo even works with my tablet that doesn't have a sim card. Works great and the price is right.

We don't all have that enabled in GV yet. It's basically a race between AT&T VoLTE /Wifi calling and getting Google Voice VoIP.

Personally I haven't gotten either yet. Been using both GV and GoPhone for years now and watching everyone get these features for weeks is kind of frustrating.

There's a Mint/T-Mobile 8GB/mo 3 months for ~$25 promo running right now though. Giving that a try and will even be able to use VoLTE / Wi-Fi calling on my unlocked S9.

For GV, I believe it is still officially in Beta. And there's a google page to request in. I've tried that for some friends and 3 out of 5 got the invite and turned on. The other two have been waiting more than 9 months to no avail. And multiple requests were sent in over time.

It's on a slow roll out now. I'm liking VoLTE / Wi-Fi calling better as that's using unlimited portions of most cell plans. Heard it's not a lot of data though.

My prepaid Wi-Fi calling error messages are still cycling through call us / can't do it right now.

Do you actually need to be on Wi-Fi to activate it? Will some aggressive block lists like pfblockerng at home and AdBlock on the phone prevent this from activating?

You don't need to be on Wi-Fi to activate it.

Just curious because I was debating on getting an AT&T prepaid plan. Does anyone know if it’s ready to go (HD Voice and WiFi Calling) in CT? I know some in NY have reported but I didn’t want to activate a plan if it wasn’t going to work. I know the map shows we get HD voice but I wasn’t sure if I’ll have issues trying to activate
