    Tracfone Rebel 4 getting updates

I've had this phone for about 3 weeks....got an update about 15 days ago...did not pay close attention to what ity was...assumed some kind of software(android 8.1 is whats on it), but not sure

Today it downloaded another large update....559mb....took about 1 1/2 hours to complete. Are these the Android security updates? This is the 1st Android Tracfone I've had that is getting any kind of updates.

Just curious if others have had these....

I bought a Simple Mobile Moto E5 on Black Friday. The label on the back shows a (manufactured?) date of 2018-09-18. When I first turned it on and connected to WiFi, it downloaded a total of 3 updates. The latest security patch date is Sept 1, 2018.

Moto phones get upgrades directly from Motorola Mobility. They can find any of their phones no matter what service. I had a Marshmallow to Nougat upgrade in a Verizon Moto G4 Play that was operating with a swapped SIM from a TF branded phone. The Moto phone was not in the TF system. My BYOP Moto G5+ went from Nougat to Oreo recently. Not sure if OS version upgrades will happen with TF branded Motos.

Security updates used to be fairly rare with TF branded phones, so it's good to see that may have improved. 1 1/2 hours to complete is a long time. Did you use very slow WiFi? My last update took about 1/2 hour, most of which was the install after download.

So who is 24719? TracFone, the manufacturer, the carrier?

The last time when I did some digging, it is Tracfone, but not sure how they do it because they don't know what version of the OS you have. In the last three months, I got this message on my J7 Sky Pro SM-S727VL on September 23, October 5, 10, 24, and November 1 and 13, and there was no updates that I could find.

I know this is getting a little side track on the topic. I have done that many times with my J7 Sky Pro SM-S727VL. It keeps on saying that there is no updates. I have got updates before on my J7 Sky Pro SM-S727VL, but I have to use SmartSwitch to do the updates tho.

Then why is other branded phones is getting this message? Then why is it only with Tracfone and their sub companies it seems?

I have not seen a post about this text on any other provider yet.
