help me find a new plan for my uncle

Mu uncle is wanting me to help him acquire and set him up on a new phone plan with a new device... he has fallen on harder times and needs get a cheaper phone plan... he has service with AT&T right now (I believe) on a plan with his friend and needs to get off by porting his number as he wants to keep his number... I don't know how much he is paying now and I don't know if he has a credit card so I'd need to look at options that can be both bought with a card or with cash depending on what he has.. what are some good plans? recommendations?

I also was thinking of porting him to Google Voice as well so that if he looses his service or can't pay one or more months his number wouldn't be lost.... I would like to know how much high speed data I'd need to get him per month and would Google Voice work on 64/128kbps speed "unlimited" data? and because he doesn't have a physical address he doesn't have access to wifi by cable /dsl except the times he goes to like McDonald's and such... he travels in his RV full time... what do you guys say?

It's guessing now. And not productive. Answers to specifics needed then you'll get great info.
As a USA citizen I have the right to criticize my government. My thanks for this is endless in magnitude.

Fascism is here led by a racist, hypersensitive, crass, immoral psychopathic traitor, narcissist liar committing High Treason against the USA.

I think your idea to port his number to google voice will work good. That way if he does not have cell phone service he can use a free wifi hotspot with Google voice to get messages and make calls.

I do want to port him to google voice... how well does google voice work on 128kbps data? I'm thinking I might set him up on unreal mobile on AT&T towers and just have it to where he uses google hangouts...

I've used Hangouts talk/text on Tello 64kbps with pretty good results. Text was 100%, talk was a little choppy here and there but was still functional.

It wasnt my main line just and "extra/play" line so I didnt use it all that much.

Can’t use Google Voice with Google Fi, unless you do a Hangouts workaround which probably isn’t worth the trouble. Google Fi also requires a credit card on file for automatic payments. Data costs for Google Fi are $10 per GB so that ads up quickly. If he’s traveling around in an RV, yiu want either Verizon or AT&T MVNO’s as they have the best geographical coverage by far over T-Mobile or Sprint.

It is hard to know without what kind of usage he does. Honestly, if it we're just for phone service, I would get him the T-Mobile $3/month plan. Has 911 and some light usage. But then we don't know if it is for a lifeline scenario or if he uses the internet all day every day.

Along those same lines, he could use the PagePlus Cellular $10/120 days plan, which comes out to $2.50/30 days, and use it with a new TW Rebel 3 for $30 from https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16875136485 .

I will throw this into the mix. Given ATT device, prob not unlocked (op might want to pursue unlocking), possible cash refills, I think our candidate service here is H2O. You can get sims and refills in grocery and big box stores as well as amazon. Not the most economical but possibly a good option at least to get the number ported and active on a working, easy to manage service.

If somebody that asks for help doesn't want a bunch of wild guess suggestions, they need to provide useful information to get more relevant answers!

    Obama phone?

I have my mother on H20 (ATT) at $9/3 months w autopay. 200 mins or texts or 100MBs. Rolls over. Sims are $1 on ebay. An ATT prepaid phone will work.

"doesn't use much" "mostly just phone calls and texts". You need to give hard NUMBERS, not vague descriptions.

    Data: 10 MB, 100 MB, 500 MB, 1 GB, 5 GB ?????
    Calls: 60 minutes, 500 minutes, 1000 minutes ?????
    Texts: 20, 100, 1000, 2000 ??????
