Virginia joins the states that ban touching the phone while driving

Not a moment too soon. Now I am curious if it will be enforced and became revenue-generating, it would bring more money than the radars. In my experience one in three drivers, at rush hour, is glued to the cell screen. Random braking, leaving huge gaps in front of them only to accelerate hard next moment to catch up, departing their lane...

Thanks, I couldn't have said it better myself!! The last thing the majority of drivers need is a cellphone in hand while driving. Most (yes most) are pathetic drivers these days & drive more offensively than defensively.

It still amazes me how so many drivers insist on racing up to a light that just turned red. I guess this allows more time for screwing around with their phone while stopped. There is no better feeling than sailing right past them when the light turns green!! (and no I don't drive a Prius) I get from point A to B just as fast as they w/o driving like a mind numbed idiot.

Digital Rules, I agree with you 1000 percent ! There are times when I could be just driving thru a street light but have to stop for people that race to red light to the next red light.

Amen to that. Will have to see if it gets signed into law.

I see dangerous idiocy with people on their cellphones about every time I drive. It is getting worse every year.

I text and drive all day... I guess it's just a skill like any other. Some people can do it and some people can't.

Texting while driving in Virginia is already illegal. Problem is, they can't enforce it. It is too difficult to tell is someone in a moving vehicle is actually texting or just looking at the phone for GPS or something.

The rules of the road are written for the average, not the exceptional.

The bill did not get signed into law. They will have to try again next year.

It's not over yet. The governor has amended a passed bill to include the phone holding prohibition. I did not know they could do that. The amended bill will be considered during a one day legislature session on April 3.
