Hmmm. I'm still doing something wrong, or need to adjust a setting. I have GV set to Prefer Wifi as pictured above, and I am only dialing out with the GV app, not the native dialer. Still, over 50˘ was deducted from my balance today, and I have not been off the wifi at my office for a minute. I've both sent and received texts, as well as incoming calls.
My smartphone is a lot smarter than I am.

Welcome to the gv bug gallery. This is similar inconsistent behavior I get on my axon 7 (with nonstock firmware). Is your device running nonstock firmware or rooted, or modified in any way? Sometimes it works, most times it drops down to H/H+ to place the call. I bet if you try calling out in airplane mode with wifi enabled, the call won't go through.

What's happening is the app is placing the call as though it was dialed from the standard (non gv) dialer.

Relztrah, are you 100% sure that the WiFi is working and you can do other things with data on that phone .

I haven't had a placed call fail yet on any of the three phones I'm testing the GV app on, and I don't have any real phone # associated with any of those phones, just a data connection.

There are issues with the ringback tone working properly when placing a call as discussed in the other thread, but the calls always connect.

I don't know then. Hard to see trends when the calling issues are so intermittent. Seems fully closing the app (swipe away from recents) seems to reset things sometimes.
