    Sim card

I have a grandfathered prepaid plan I would like to keep but if my sim card ever gets damaged would I have (be forced) to change my plan if I get another sim card ?

I don't believe so. I have gotten replacement SIMs for my grandfathered p T-mobile but they are not free.

Also if your phone is 2g they may not activate it again.
They told me the new sims would not work in a 2g phone ,
Probably BS but I did not have a choice at the time.

    Sim card

No, from my experience as well. But you should have a brand new (non-activated, which you can buy from eBay for $5 or less) SIM card before you call.

You can check them out either eBay or amazon. I bought couple weeks ago there for $4 each from eBay.

New device + new sim activated on legacy prepaid line

I had to change devices on my Gold Rewards (legacy prepaid) line. I got skilled help here on Howard Forums, picked out a suitable new device, bought a sim and activated it.
