Since it's only really used to internal, you could use it as a place holder for a 2nd SIM.
You're right, there are two IMEIs on the newer iPhones. It's possible I gave them the second one, though Apple do make it quite clear which is which on both the box and in the software. (The 'About' screen where you see them, have them physically separated with "Digital SIM" in between. The numbers are also quite different. I.E. Not one digit off.)

Right now I'm going to keep the phones as they are—one on TF GSM, and the other on Red Pocket. Ultimately I'll probably end up expediting my move off Xfinity to clear up the IMEIs.

Thanks for all your input and help! It's much appreciated!

You could use the 2nd IMEI to register the TF SIM. as far as they care it's just an iPhone IMEI. Just don't mention that it's the eSIM IMEI. Should work like any other IMEI doe registration.

I called Xfinity earlier today and had them cancel the line. I figured it was the safer thing to do (saves me keeping track of which phone is using which IMEI if I need to deal with stuff in a year or so). I can reopen an account with them when they support the eSIM.

Any idea when Xfinity will release the IMEI?

Shouldn't take but a few minutes.

But I have no experience do that.
