    AT&T Roaming in Paris, France

If I go to Paris France what carrier will I be roaming on? What is the carrier that AT&T has partnered with? Is it just one? or many? Is it random? Can I change it or am I forced to use whatever my phone connects to?

I'm want to know which carrier so that I can potentially look for coverage maps. I've heard coverage is good in Europe...but I'm curious for the name of the carrier anyway.

I have a Nexus 5X that I bought from Google here in the US. I'm on AT&T postpaid and I've activated the $10/day international plan with AT&T. I've also enabled mobile data roaming.

    Thanks!

I was in Paris last year and was able to roam on all the carriers there. Call AT&T’s international roaming department. They’ll be able to help you.

Absolutely correct. They can tell you which carriers they have preferred roaming agreements with. I used to work on that very team about 3 years ago.
Don't make me turn this car around.....

Just came back from Paris using AT&T’s expensive $10 a day plus taxes and fees plan. It worked just fine. Never had an area where I didn’t have service. It appeared to roam on a number of different carriers depending on where I was. It just worked.

I would consider getting a sim card once you arrive in Paris. I purchased this one from Amazon and it was very successful in Europe:

The $10/day plan from AT&T can be as much as $14-$20 per day after taxes and fees!

I used this plan on my vacation last fall to the UK (and day trip to Paris). It sufficed for my data needs (navigation, etc). As provided, it didn't support calling/texting the states (possibly if I had provided extra funds to the account it would have). Traveling companions had iPhones, so I just used iMessage to text.

I was on ATT Prepaid, so I didn't have the option of roaming (and just paying the extra costs).

2 years ago I visited Australia, on Verizon Postpaid at the time, and due to different circumstances I just paid the $10/day. But I also used the phone plan for hotspot in the hotel where it would have cost over $20/day for the hotel's Wi-Fi.
iPhone X is my current primary phone. I have older model iPhones and Moto phones available on other lines. Currently prepaid, though would consider postpaid on right plan.

3 is 4G in the UK only. In the rest of EU, it’s restricted to 3G.

EE and Vodafone SIM cards both can do 4G.

Good news, Three now offers 4G roaming across Europe and in many other countries worldwide that are one of their ‘Go Roam’ destinations. I confirmed with their customer service recently. 4g service is now listed on Three’s roaming coverage maps of the countries where they have it.

You can also purchase an Orange vacation sim which can be used all over Europe and maintained forever provided you top up every six months.
