Question Need more service days on my phone. How to get them?

I've read here that TF was not offering just the year of service anymore. Am I mistaken? if not, how can I get more service days. My end date is July 28/19. I have over 2000 minutes/text and 1.5 GB. What would be the cheapest way to extend the service days?

    Thanks in advance!

They still offer the 365-day add-on for TF-branded phones. BYOP phones don't get them currently. If you have a BYOP, one option is to buy a new phone bundled with 1-yr and typically 1200/1200/1200, usually for less than the cost of a 1-yr card. "Harvest" the bundled days & units then transfer back to your favorite BYOP phone.

Can I still do that? Buy a bundle off HSN and apply it to my phone? (it's a BYOP, )

I might have an old TF branded one somewhere too. In that case, would I need to move my sim card to it and try to buy the one year? I have VZ service.

    1. You can't directly apply the bundled days & units to your current phone. You'll have to activate the new phone with a transfer from your current phone (in one transaction). After your phone number, days, units are transferred to the new phone, the bundled days & units will added on top of that. Then you can transfer everything back to your BYOP.

    2. The SIM of a TF-branded phone is paired in TF system with the IMEI of the original TF-branded phone. I don't think swapping in your other SIM card will work.

Thank you! I guess I'll go the bundle route.

I was trying to figure out why I see the $49.99 choice when I add a minutes card to the cart but just remembered my sim came from a TF branded phone bundle. I just moved the sim to a different phone so that would be why I see it.

Would it not be better to swap the activated SIM from the new bundled phone into the old BYOP phone, so that it's recognized as TF branded? A service transfer to a BYOP would still see it as a BYOP.

If both phones use the same technology (CDMA or GSM), and less importantly the same SIM size. My main BYOP phone is GSM, and I have to go through two transfers to harvest from a CDMA bundle.

Oops, I should have asked the carrier used on the OP's BYOP phone first. Most of what I see these days are CDMA Tracfones and the predominant use of Verizon in my area. Not much thought about GSM.

You have it easy then. Buy a new bundled phone that uses TF/Verizon. Activate it with a transfer from your BYOP CDMA SIM. Afterward, put the SIM from the new phone into your BYOP phone.

The Tracfone Moto E5 is one of the new DL models, it comes with a Verizon SIM, but it will also work with Tracfone AT&T or T-Mobile SIMS.
Next time buy the cheapest Tracfone bundle that comes with the service you want and SIM swap into the E5. Hold on to the cheap phone.
