    Bring Phone Without Buying SIM

I am looking to sign up for a low-cost plan for my mother as an emergency use phone. I have an old LG G7 phone that has a SIM. It was a MetroPCS phone. I would like to give this to her to use.

I checked on the Tmobile site and the phone is compatible. However, Tmobile wants me to buy a new SIM card from them. Is it possible to bring the phone AND the SIM over? I.e., give Tmobile the SIM card number for them to activate?

go over to tagmobile.com and signup for the free government plan. if you dont qualify you can always buy the $10 unlimited talk/text and 100mb data. They will send you the sim card. It is compatible with all t-mobile phones.

If it's and emergency use phone, you don't need a SIM. Otherwise, SIMs are not nails or washers. The SIM contains the carrier-specific codes that allow a phone to work with a particular carrier.

The MetroPCS SIM won't work for T-Mobile service.
