I have been looking at a UleFone Armor 3WT. It appears to be made in China. Would I be able to install and use both a AT&T and Verizon SIM card in it? Is there a move underway to lock-out "non-certified" phones? If so, who is doing this and how do I determine what is (or isn't) a "certified phone"?
That's a very cool looking phone!

According to http://ulefone.com/products/armor3wt/spec.html , it supports:
    LTE-FDD: B1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B (2100/1900/1800/1700/850/800/2600/900/700/700 /700/800/800/800/1900/850/700/700)
    LTE-TDD: B34/38/39/40/41(2015/2500/1900/2300/2500)

So, it appears it will work on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, even though it is missing bands including 14/66/71.

It won't be able to be activated on Verizon or Sprint until/unless the IMEI is added to their database. A SIM swap of an already active Vzw SIM card might be possible, but impossible to say for sure until somebody tests and reports. And if that does work, nobody knows what will happen in the long run if/when Vzw makes changes to their system. This is what ShredFred is referencing.

It's got 4 and 13 so it's got rudimentary support for Verizon.

It also seems to have cdma/evdo so it can step down to 3g/1xx if needed.

FYI, I have been running on the Umidigi with preferred network set to LTE only. In most places I have been except Vermont, I have had LTE connectivity including HD Voice.

Have any of your Umidigi phones gotten any updates?

Did you consider the UMIDIGI Power Unlocked Cell Phones 64GB+4GB RAM 5150mAh Battery 18W Fast Charging 6.3' FHD+ Screen Global Version 16MP+5MP Dual Camera 4G Volte Smartphone - 1 Year US Warranty(Black) from http://amazon.com/UMIDIGI-Unlocked-5.../dp/B07TX6TFKH? $139.99.

    https://www.umidigi.com/page-umidigi...ification.html shows
    2G: GSM 2 /3 /5 /8
    3G: WCDMA 1 /2 /4 /5 /6 /8 /19
    4G: TDD-LTE 38 /40 /41
    4G: FDD-LTE 1 /2 /3 /4 /5 /7 /8 /12 /13 /17 /18 /19 /20 /26 /28A /28B

It looks amazing for $139.99. I just wish included bands 66/71.

Yes, umidigi phones have been getting sporadic updates. The F1 just received an update in September 2019. Post #103

I looked at that phone, somebody else tried it and had issues. I believe it has a p23 cpu, which might be worse than the p60/p70. The P60 and P70 cpus are fairly snappy. 4-6 gig of Ram is good. Camera is good too. Not sure if the Power had the bands to connect to Verizon for CDMA. The F1, F1 Play and S3 Pro all do and have been tested by me.

So far, the only advantages I see in the X vs the F2 are that it is 8.1mm thick vs 8.7mm, and that the fingerprint reader is in the screen vs on the side.

But if I can't have the fingerprint scanner on the front like my Moto E4, or in the screen, the side is more preferable to the back, at least to me.

I think almost every other spec favors the F2.

Oh, and I just noticed that the F2 has 2 SIM card slots PLUS a microSD card slot, whereas the X only has 2 slots total, so I don't think it's even close based on what's important to me.

My primary phones since 2017 have been a LG Phoenix 2 and a Moto E4, which were only $30 each. Hopefully my expectations aren't too high for a $179.99 Umidigi F2, if I decide to pull the trigger.

    Thoughts?

I'd go for the F2. Don't trust the new onscreen Fingerprint reader yet and would wait for the technology to get fleshed out some more.

Best thing about these phones is that the big battery is real. 2-3 days moderate use.
