Is There a Smartphone That Makes Voice Calls w/o Having to Do Anything Else?

I was wondering if there is a smartphone out there that you can have call someone w/o having to do anything like touching the screen or clicking onto to anything?
I'm wanting a phone that I can just tell it to call someone w/o having to do anything else.

My Samsung phone can dial any phone # by voice as long as the screen isn't locked. This is also available on iPhones or any current Android phone.

Wouldn't this be a function of whatever digital assistant the phone is equipped with (Siri for iPhones, Google Assistant for Android - Samsung may have their own name)? I think GA can be made to respond when the phone is in Lock mode, perhaps depending on the phone brand or Android version.

This also may be a common feature with certain better Bluetooth headsets and automobile setups, as hands-free is strictly the rule in some states and/or locales.

I'm pretty sure Google assistant can call anyone on your contact list with a verbal command, but of course you'd have to touch your screen first. Dunno if there is an app out there for this purpose. Maybe you could have alexa talk to your thermostat who in turn could ring the doorbell...or not.

You can call any number, just say the number instead of a name.

Just disable the screen lock and you don't have to touch the phone.

There are options to allow actions when locked via BT and wired headsets.

My Note 9 responds to the "OK Google" command when the screen is locked. You have to set up voice recognition. Of course I had it set up the same way on my last phone, an S7 Edge, and it wouldn't unlock with the voice command the way it was supposed to. That's progress I guess.

Samsung can either use the Google application or it's proprietary assistant "Bixby" which was first released on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and currently on most flagship devices. Look it up online for full compatibility.

I never saw that option before, but good to know it is available.

Speaking “Hey Siri” on iPhone will text or call someone in contact list from locked screen, when set up properly in settings & with voice recognition. I use it all the time, don’t need to push the home button.
Of course, sometimes the text language & sequence gets all garbled / messed up if Siri does not interpret your words accurately, so trial & error there.

Google Assistant works for me without touching on any screen except the blank sleep screen. Pretty smart, as it will ask you to choose if there are multiple sub-numbers under a main name in the Contact list.

If you want a smartphone that isn't a smartphone, why buy a smartphone?

TY for your "smart" comment. FYI I'm looking for a smartphone that my legally blind husband can use to call me w/o having to "see" anything to use the phone.
Your comment contributed nothing to this thread.
