The talk and text buckets will not see any numbers from the Unlimited plan, as the user does not need to know. Guessing the data would go into the data bucket, as it's metered the same. TMFL has nothing to do with this, just as it does not with Smartphone plans.

An FAQ already? So much detail for a brand new option?

    So unlike TF.
This a bigger thing than Smartphone cards were. I would guess that Tracfone is banking on it being the future standard, thus the unusual attention. They should put a link to the FAQ on the purchase page so that people know what they are buying.

    Triple unlimited is still unlimited.

    You probably wouldn't.

But what about a card with all 3 buckets? Would the voice/text get added to the saved balance or just thrown away?

Or transfer to a new phone with bundled airtime?

I wouldn't count on TF getting it right.

Maybe Tracfone will add a Reserve, where extra added Months can reside until time for each to go live.

The $20 plan is in direct competition with Red Pocket's Verizon annual plan but you don't have to buy a year in advance.

The $20 smartphone card (300/1000/1gb) should now be considered history.

Maybe it's because I've been with TF for so long, but I don't see the different cards that confusing. All anyone needs to do is just figure out how much time they use a month and buy accordingly. The only thing that was really messed up was the Double/triple minutes. That made NO sense.

    Tracfone New Unlimited Smartphone Plans

It would be nice if these monthly unlimited plans also included unlimited 2G data during the 30 day cycle after the high speed data is used up just like sister company Net10. That would give people the choice of still using data for iMessage or Google Maps without forcing them to add a $10 data card for an additional 1 GB.

Better yet would be for TF to just lower their data add on card to $5 for 1 GB. If they did that I would think they would see a flood of people porting to TF.

Oh, that'd be really bad for me! I ain't need no unlimited nothing. I don't talk or text much and what I most spend is data but moderately, nothing to even justify the 1GB/mo plan!

I hope tracfone doesn't go away of its classic model of PAYG and a la carte refills. If it wants to offer both types of plans, fine, but I only need PAYG.

Are you on any kind of auto-refill plan? I buy airtime as needed. I don't want to be forced into buying an unlimited plan every month. I don't think I have a credit card on file for them to automatically bill me.

That seems like a huge conclusion to jump to based on 1 report with no attempt to contact TF.

    In fact, https://www.tracfone.com/shop/plans still indicates:
    Classic Service Plans
Stay the course with a Classic Service Plan. Add one today to keep the reliable service you’ve come to expect.
    AND
    Basic Phone Plans
The best option for talking, texting and light web browsing. Our Basic Plans let you choose your Minutes and Service Days.

I'll jump to my own conclusion: TF Incompetence!

Does Tracfone really need 18 plans, plus their eBay offerings, QVC, HSN, add-ons, Amazon I think? I never shop Amazon, not really sure what's there. Maybe other outlets also.

Sure, it's easy for us to formulate a purchase plan because we've already vetted the menu.

But newcomers or someone looking to refill an HSN deal will not have an easy time knowing what the best deals are.

Not to mention Tracfone's dismal record of competence.

Don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

I need service days more than anything and don't want to carry huge airtime balances. I'm afraid of complications.

I think they leave you alone if they can see purchases and not a series of transfers. Transfers look like a scheme. That has always been a sport.

They shouldn't, but what happens if someone did? Did the TF programmers do the "right thing" to handle such a situation? Or would their system just barf?

Also, what about adding another unlimited card before your current one expires? Can you stack unlimited cards? I'm guessing not, because they haven't even figured out automatic renewal for unlimited!
