Cheap plans that have Unlimited data (even at 2G) and tether?

Ting is offering freedompop refugees 20gigs for $20/month + taxes and allows tethering. (dont know what happens if you go over the 20gig mark.)
i plan to replace home internet with this plan. (i only do email, forums, and facebook. no youtube.)

that got me curious if there are any competitive plans to that offer unlimited 2G and tethering?

https://tello.com/buy/custom_plans is $5/mo for 500MB LTE then unlimited 2G speed.

https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-internet is $10/mo for 2GB LTE then unlimited 2G speed.

I though most throttled data on most providers was 64Kbps. But I haven't researched that thoroughly, so I don't know for sure.

I wouldn't buy anything with throttle speed below 128 kbps.

I know because I use to have that throttle speed on boost and I could watch YouTube at 140p.

Now I have boost $50 unlimited and it cuts off hotspot after 12 GB so that is bad they don't throttle like on their cheaper plan.

If you really need unlimited data you can't forget Visible, not as cheap as some of the above but unlimited data (unthrottled on the phone, 5 mbps on hotspot) for $40 (total price, no additional taxes or fees) and on Verizon's network (they are owned by Verizon actually.) Device support is rather limited at this point -- iPhones, a few Android models, or they have their own fairly decent Android ZTE offering for $19 (yes, $19.) Also be warned that their CS is grossly overloaded and pretty abysmal right now, but if you can get past those issues it's tough to beat unlimited hotspot data on Verizon for that price. Also they are offering $100 Prepaid Mastercard after 2 months service if you port a number so even if you cancel you will still be money ahead, so no cost to try it.

The $19 price is OK but I don't see any "special offer" link that will provide the $100 back just for porting in my number - is that promotion still active?

    Thanks,

    Dan

There are ways to put an ATT plan in service for a shade over a dollar per day - you need a tablet IMEI to create the account and a suitable device (phone or portable hotspot) - https://buyasession.att.com/sbd/unauth/ShowLogin.action

Visible has been mentioned and I confirmed via FAQ that you can get at least $100 back if you port in a number.

Mint also has a promotion going - buy three months of their $20 8GB plan and get three months free. If you go through a cashback site the net out of pocket for six months of service is $36 - $47 for six months - after the high speed data runs out it slows down but does not stop - tethering is permitted.
