Tracfone no call reception at home

We live in a rural area. All the coverage maps from Tracfone, Verizon, T-mobile, AT&T indicate they completely cover this area, but we get no service. We do live in a depression of land. We have LG 440G flip phones. If we upgrade to smart phone will we have better reception. We are technology challenged :-| Would appreciate any insight that you may have.

From what I remember, the LG 440G is AT&T 3G GSM only phone. So you will need to find the 3G maps for AT&T. Depending on where you live, I have heard that storm damaged areas has issue with older technology since they have not repaired the older tech systems. So if you get a LTE based phone, you should not have any issues if that is the case.

Yes, the LG 440G is AT&T 3G. A friend had two of them, and they worked well.

Did the phones ever work well for you?

They are older phones, so you must have used them before the present time.

You don't mention if you just moved and the phones no longer work.

Perhaps there is a local cell company that would offer better service.

You have been a member here for a long time, so you know that we might inquire as to your location, ballpark speaking, since you are "technology challenged". That would help.

I suppose the LG 440G could also be assigned to T-Mobile, not sure.

Some have gotten better signal on LTE than on 2G/3G in rural areas. Requires a phone with VoLTE (Voice over LTE), which AT&T does not provide to other customers at this time. Verizon does provide VoLTE, and is often the best provider to have in rural areas. Exact location is very important, especially in obstructed terrain.

Would take a new SIM to change carriers, and I doubt TF would give you one at this point. T-Mo is often not a good choice anyway. I was surprised to see that Sprint is actually better in my rural location.

I meant to say that the phone could already be on T-Mobile.

No way to know that except the first 6 numbers of the SIM ID.
